In Feb 2014, China’s agchem import volume grew 31.6% to 7,000 tons with import value significantly increasing 62.6% to $ 78 milllion y-o-y, according to the data released by the Chinese General Administration of Customs. Pesticide export in Feb decreased 14.9% to 69,000 tons, with export value at $ 228 million.

For the first two months of 2014, the country imported a total of 17,000 tons of pesticide, import volume grew by 23.1% and value reached $ 149 million. Pesticide export also registered double digit increase in volume and value terms of 10.8% and 14.8% to 193,000 tons and $ 663 million respectively.

Import specifics

Fungicide was the largest category of pesticide import in Feb, with import volume boosting by 94.4% to 3,000 tons. Insecticide import also rose 32.9% to 1,000 tons in volume terms, while herbicide import slid down by 2.7% to 2,000 tons of volume.

From Jan to Feb, total volume of herbicide import steadily grew 8% to 7000 tons, with value increasing 32.8% to $ 42 million. Fungicide and insecticide import volume grew 34% and 49.1% to 5,000 tons and 2,000 tons, valued at $ 60 million and $ 35 million respectively.

 

Export specifics

Herbicide continued to be the largest category of pesticide export in Feb, while export volume and value both decreased 11.8% and 7.8% to 54,000 tons and $ 170 million. Insecticide and fungicide exported also saw decreases of 9,000 tons and 4,000 tons respectively.

Despite the decrease of herbicide export in Feb, the total herbicide export in Jan and Feb kept substantial growth with volume increased 12.2% to 146,000 tons and value of $ 467 million. Insecticide exported 29,000 tons, with value increasing 9% to $ 123 million. Fungicide export also registered a slight increase.
