On December 16, 2013, China ICAMA (the Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, Ministry of Agricultural) announced on its website that publicity system on pesticide registration will be implemented from January 1 2014. Before granting pesticide registration, all candidates of temporary registration, full registration and registration of repacking should go through publicity process.

This system is built upon the relevant requirements stipulated under the “Administrative Approval Law” and “Regulations on Pesticide Administration”, which is to increase regulatory transparency of pesticide management. The applicant, name, active ingredient(s), content, formulation type, toxicity, crop range, target, dosage, application method, and source of technical material, as well as other relevant information of the pending pesticide products will be displayed on ICAMA ‘s official website (www.chinapesticide.gov.cn) in batches. The institute will have 7-day public consultation period for each batch and solicit views from enterprises and individuals.

ICAMA has provided standardized template documents for publicity and solicitation, all comments should be submitted in written form with the official seal of the enterprise or the name and the identity card number of the individual.
