Standardization Administration of China (SAC) issued Notice No.25 (2013), announcing GB 30077-2013 Requirements on Emergency Materials Equipment for Hazardous Chemical Enterprises will take effect as of November 1st, 2014.
GB 30077-2013 is a new national standard stipulating materials and equipment required in emergencies other than for daily safety management.
Hazardous chemical enterprises include companies involved in hazardous chemical manufacturing, storage, using, operation, transport and disposal. GB 30077-2013 compliance is mandatory for the manufacturing, storage and using, while still remains recommended for other processes. For example, HazChem disposal companies may refer to the section of workplace allocation requirement in GB 30077-2013 to prepare emergency materials and equipment.
GB 30077-2013 puts forward the most basic requirements, which cannot guarantee sufficient rescue assistance and protection to all kinds of emergencies. Hazardous chemical companies should be equipped with any other necessary emergency materials according to one’s own safety condition, to meet the actual demand for carrying out rescue work.
Several foreign standards were used as references during the formulation of GB 30077-2013, such as US National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) Codes and Standards, and emergency equipment standards of US Air Product and Chemicals, Inc.
