Recently an application for registration of glyphosate & glufosinate mixture of different proportion was submitted by a Chinese enterprise for the first time, for which ICAMA of Chinese Ministry of Agriculture is asking for public opinion and comment with respect to the proportional reasonability. At present China’s research into glyphosate & glufosinate mixture is mostly academic and product registration application is yet to start. After the finalization of the proportional reasonability upon public comment as organized by ICAMA, there will be still various tests to be carried out such as efficacy test, etc. It will take at least 2 years until the status of approval of the registration. Industry professionals say that the release of glyphosate & glufosinate mixture to market is expected to increase the use of glufosinate. At present quite a lot of Chinese enterprises are planning launch of glufosinate project but there are much less enterprises having achieved mass production, mainly attributable to the stringent technical, safety and environmental requirements. So far China’s prime glufosinate producers include the old-brand industry leader Zhejiang Yongnong Chemical, Lier Chemical and Hebei Bestar Chemical. Producers also include ENN and Jiangsu Huangma, apart from the several other production facilities which are recently brought to operation.
