China Pesticide Industry-US Imposes New Duties on Chinese Trichloroiso Cyanuric Acid (TCCA) Producer

By Fang Lin on Monday, 13 October 2014 in Agrochemical News

On 9 Oct 2014, the US International Trade Commission made its final decision on its anti-dumping lawsuit targeting Chinese produced and imported trichloroiso cyanuric acid(TCCA). The commission determined that Chinese TCCA was currently a subsidized imported product and that in future new duties will be imposed on imported TCCA from China.

The US Department of Commerce had previously made its own ruling on imported Chinese TCCA in September and the final decision by the Commission will formally place levies on Chinese imported TCCA.

Duties imposed on different Chinese producers:

The anti-dumping investigation against Chinese producers was launched after strong lobbying by Clearon, a Texas based US company. According to the US Department of Commerce, the United States imported 168.6 million dollars’ worth of TCCA from China. TCCA is widely used as a disinfectant and has also been registered in China as a fungicide against various diseases on pepper, rice,
tobacco and cotton. Currently, ICAMA has granted 5 pesticide registration certificates to 3 domestic companies.
